Introductions

Zapp is an official member of the TruHeart Golden gang now! He has had lots of interaction with each dog, one at a time so not to overwhelm the little guy, since Sunday and has joined the after breakfast nylabone chewing party. Truly http://k9data.com/pedigree.asp?ID=244468 adores her new baby brother and they have bonded over their mutual love of wrestling. It's a laugh a minute to watch these two, repeatedly, throw play bows at each other! Uncle Max loves the little guy in his Eeyore type manner "Oh well, I guess I have to raise another pup...ho hum" ;-) Siena is the wise teacher and is helping baby Zapp learn proper doggie etiquette. Molly is happy (and that's about all she's happy about when it comes to puppies!) to clean up stray bits of kibble as Zapp sloppily eats in his x-pen!

Speaking of introductions we have another new addition! Apollo http://www.sunkissedgoldens.com/apollo.htm came to stay with us, two weeks ago, on a trial basis to see if he would fit with our family. Well, not only does this wonderful boy fit in we can't imagine life with out him! With his stunning good looks, willingness to please and lovable, outstanding golden temperament we have high hopes for him in conformation, obedience and more! We will be co-owning Apollo with Kara from SunKissed Goldens.

Nine Weeks Old Today!

Happy 9 Week Birthday to the "Blue" Litter: Zap, Twinkle, Sam and Blue Boy!! We've been busy playing, training, socializing, and just enjoying getting to know our new pup. Yesterday was Zap's Well Puppy visit at my vet's office. He weighs 12.5 lbs. and got a clean bill of health. The staff treated him like royalty with lots of treats, kisses and cuddles!
Just out of curiosity, I took out a leather article yesterday to see if Zap would retrieve it and he DID! Not only did he bring it back by holding the bar, he brought it straight to my hand. What a smart little guy ;-) I will try to get a video of him retrieving this weekend.

Here are some pictures from today at 9 Weeks old!

Sleep

Sleep is the reason I didn't write an entry last night. We all decided to call it a night early. The observation I made on the first day about Zap's easy transition into his crate didn't hold true Sunday night. He was a very unhappy howling puppy. Last night we made some adjustments~fed his dinner earlier, watched water intake closely, and moved his crate next to the bed rather than in the corner of the room. This added up to a decent nights sleep for all. So in keeping with the "sleep" theme I took some cute sleeping puppy pictures. Plus I figured it wouldn't hurt to have these pictures to look back on when Zap goes through that adolescent stage!

Never A Dull Moment

I feel like today was a whirl wind of activity! Putting the finishing touches on the office/puppy room, laundry, clipping puppy nails, taking Zap on his first social outing and potty training. The day just flew by! In between all that I had training sessions with all the dogs and made a delicious chicken dinner. Zap's session was loading the clicker and some playful toy retrieves. He thought the clicker was pretty cool and wanted to keep the game going! Only one pee accident since yesterday so he is really catching on. I brought a bag of semi used wood shavings home from Kara's puppy pen and sprinkled them outside so Zap would get the message of where to do his business. It's working like a charm. His first outing was to a local pet supply store where he was the center of attention. Although we didn't allow him to walk around he enjoyed being cuddled by his adoring public and can't wait to go back.

Day two....whew I'm tired but it's a GOOD tired ;-)

Home Coming

Zapp-A-Roo Puppy Doo is home! He made the two hour trip home from Kara's like a traveling pro. Spent almost the whole trip sacked out on my lap. When he did finally wake up he just casually observed his surroundings. I'm very impressed with this little guy, so far no accidents and he has settled into his crate with ease. I took a copious amount of pictures today and will post a few of them tomorrow. One of my many observations from today is that Zappy loves to fit himself into tight places.......reminds me so much of Buddy.

It's been a long, happy, fun-filled day. Zapp is snoozing in his crate, day one has come to a close.

New Beginnings

I thought it appropriate to start a blog on the night before we bring our new puppy home. SunKissed Electric Blue "Zap" http://k9data.com/pedigree.asp?ID=323599 is coming to join our family and we are filled with anticipation and joy. The past year has had it's share of challenges for our family. So we are looking forward, moving on and carrying those we love in our hearts.
Thank you to Kara of SunKissedGoldens http://www.sunkissedgoldens.com/
for this special puppy. Also, thank you to all our friends for the love and support we received during a difficult time for our family.
